Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Pond

When President Franklin D. Roosevelt saw a spring-fed pond that reminded him of the Biblical “Pool of Bethesda,” a place of healing and renewal, it became the site of “Bethesda Naval Hospital”. Today, known as Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), it is one of the largest and most renowned medical institutions in the world.

It was an honor and a privilege for MJT3 to serve as Superintendent for the renovation of the pond while work for Hitt Contracting. For six months, Taylor worked the project, turning it over only after the grass seeds had grown the required three inches. He fondly recalls having the campus Fire Department assist him in the refilling of the pond and the early mornings he spent with campus wildlife as the grass reached required height.
